BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Thousands of undergraduate and graduate students will don caps and gowns this weekend during the ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½'s 2017 commencement ceremonies.
Some 5,894 students will receive degrees and certifications during ceremonies being held through May 24.
Among this year's highlights:
UB will no longer hold its traditional ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ Commencement, instead splitting the large ceremony honoring College of Arts and Sciences baccalaureate recipients into two separate ceremonies differentiated by departments, which will be held at 9:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. May 21 in Alumni Arena. ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ officials determined that Alumni Arena, the site of ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ Commencement, is no longer able to accommodate the growing numbers of graduates and their family members in one ceremony.
